A child of international teachers, Scott Squires was born in Nicosia, Cyprus and raised in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

As a writer and photographer, Scott has reported extensively from Latin America, most recently for Reuters News in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He was the recipient of the 2018 Emmanuel R. Freedman Award from the Overseas Press Club of America Foundation and holds a Master’s Degree in Global Policy Studies from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Journalism from UT.

Scott’s award winning photography has been featured in Texas Monthly, Vice Mexico and other publications. He has also reported for InSight Crime, the Austin American-Statesman, Free Press Houston and the Oaxaca Times.

In his free time, Scott travels throughout Latin America looking for visually arresting stories, gripping narratives, and new experiences.
